X2CrNiMoN25-7-4 should be solution annealed and quenched after either hot or cold forming. Solution annealing should be done at a minimum of 1925ºF Annealing should be followed immediately by a rapid air or water quench. To obtain maximum corrosion resistance, heat treated products should be pickled and rinsed.
X2CrNiMoN25-7-4 is requires an adjustment of tooling data and machining method, in order to achieve satisfactory results. Compared to Sanmac 316/316L, the cutting speed must be reduced by approximately 50-55% when turning X2CrNiMoN25-7-4 with coated, cemented carbide tools. Much the same applies to other operations. Feeds should only be reduced slightly and with care
