2. STEEL MAKING PROCESS of 34CrNiMo4
 
a) Steel is melted in Electrical Arc Furnaces. 
b) Vacuum degassing required. 
c) Bottom poured ingots to be used. 
3. MACROSTRUCTURE  of 34CrNiMo4
· Internal defects on the transverse slice using hot hydrochloric acid macro etching should comply as per ASTM  E381.
· Macro structure shall conform to rating S-2, R-2, C-2.
· The non metallic inclusion determination shall be in accordance with ASTM  E45
 (Method A) 
· The grain size shall be in accordance to ASTM  E 112-96 Specification and must exceed Grade 5. 
4. SURFACE DEFECTS of 34CrNiMo4
Surface cracks and defects on all rolled bars shall be detected using Eddy Current Testing Method.
