The steel grade X17CrNi16-2,X17CrNi16.2,X17CrNi162,X 17 CrNi 16-) is a high tensile strength martensitic stainless steel with good machinability. The steel suits good for production of corrosion resistance details by machining, and where the steel needs to be resistive to strong oxidizing acids e.g. nitric acid. The steel is magnetic and in the quenched and tempered condition.

The steel is generally easier to machine than ”conventional” austenitic steels.
