1.7383 (11CrMo9-10) forgings: rings, bars, discs and shafts
1.7383, EN steel name 11CrMo9-10, is a 2.25Cr-1Mo creep-resistant low-alloy steel specified in EN 10222-2 for forgings used at elevated temperature. It holds creep-rupture strength and resists high-temperature hydrogen attack in service up to about 550 to 600 °C. Typical parts are pressure-vessel rings, bars, discs, shafts and valve bodies.

What is 1.7383 steel?
1.7383 is the European material number for the steel named 11CrMo9-10. It sits in the 2.25Cr-1Mo group of creep-resistant low-alloy steels, alongside ASTM A182 F22, A335 P22 and A387 Grade 22. The 2.00 to 2.50 % chromium and 0.90 to 1.10 % molybdenum are what give the grade its creep-rupture strength at temperature and its resistance to high-temperature hydrogen attack.
EN 10222-2 covers the grade as a forging steel for pressure purposes. Carbon runs a little higher than in the closely related 1.7380 (10CrMo9-10), which lifts room-temperature strength; weldability and post-weld heat treatment behave much the same in both.

Three delivery conditions are used for this grade: +NT normalized and tempered, +QT quenched and tempered, and +QL quenched and tempered for low-temperature toughness. Required strength drops as the ruling section gets thicker, so state your finished section size when you enquire.
