Why the yield strength is a range
EN 10222-2 tabulates yield strength against the ruling section of the forging rather than quoting a single figure. The 245 MPa minimum applies to the thinnest sections. As the wall or diameter gets heavier the required minimum steps down towards 220 MPa, because a thick section cools more slowly through normalizing and finishes with a coarser structure. P245GH belongs to a family of non-alloy pressure-purpose steels that differ mainly in carbon and manganese, and therefore in strength. The number in each name is the minimum yield strength in MPa for the thinnest section, so the family ranks itself.

Cross-references to ASTM, JIS, GB and older DIN grades are approximate. Two grades that look equivalent on a comparison chart can still differ in test temperature, section limits and residual element caps, so treat any substitution as a proposal to be checked against your design code and approved by the purchaser before the heat is melted.

What is 1.0352 steel?

Can 1.0352 be welded?
Yes, and it is meant to be. Carbon is capped at 0.20 percent and the standard limits carbon equivalent to protect weldability. Qualify the procedure to EN ISO 15614-1, then set preheat and any post-weld heat treatment from the carbon equivalent on the certificate and from the joint thickness.
In what condition is 1.0352 supplied?
Normally normalized. Normalizing after forging refines the grain that hot work has coarsened and gives the uniform properties the standard tests against. Tell us the ruling section so heat treatment and testing are set to the right row of the standard.
