2.4668 Forgings — Inconel 718 / Alloy 718 / UNS N07718
Open-die forged rings, flanges, bars, shafts, discs, sleeves & tube sheets manufactured in China
What is 2.4668?
2.4668 is the German material number (Werkstoff-Nr.) for Alloy 718, a nickel-chromium precipitation-hardening superalloy that is internationally known as Inconel 718 and designated UNS N07718. All of these names refer to the same alloy. It is a nickel-base superalloy — not a stainless steel — and keeps high yield, tensile, creep and rupture strength together with excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance across a service range of roughly -217 °C to 704 °C (-423 °F to 1300 °F).
Jiangyin Jiangnan Metal Co., Ltd. is an open-die forging factory in Jiangyin City, Jiangsu Province, China that manufactures 2.4668 forgings to customer drawings. We melt the alloy using an EAF + VOD + ESR route, forge on open-die presses, and deliver in the solution-treated and aged condition with full material traceability. Send us your size or drawing and we will quote the best price.

2.4668 Forging Product Range
We produce the following 2.4668 open-die forgings to the client's requirement — any size or drawing:
Applications of 2.4668 Forgings
Because of its high strength and corrosion resistance at both cryogenic and elevated temperatures, 2.4668 (Inconel 718) forgings are widely used across demanding industries:
- Aerospace & power: jet-engine and gas-turbine parts, wheels, spacers, high-temperature bolts, turbine and compressor components.
- Oil & gas: subsea and deepwater production systems, wellheads and Christmas trees, forged valve stems, seats, bodies and blocks for ball, gate, globe, check and plug valves (API 6A / NACE MR0175).
- Pressure equipment: pressure vessels, air receivers, shell & tube heat exchangers, columns, towers, tanks, silos and preheaters — forged shafts, pipes, tubes, tube sheets, flanges and rings.
- Rotating equipment: chemical and plunger pumps, industrial air compressors, power and nitrogen generators, spindles, bars and gears for power transmission and gear boxes.
- Heavy industry: cement, sugar and concrete mills and mixers, crankshafts, nozzles, wheels, manifolds and forging rolls for shipbuilding, heavy machinery, paper & pulp and pharmaceutical / biochemistry plants.
Manufacturing & Quality Control
Melting & forging
2.4668 is melted by the EAF + VOD + ESR route for a clean, homogeneous structure, then forged on open-die presses. Heat treatment is performed as combined solution treatment and ageing to develop full mechanical properties.
Testing & certification
- 100% ultrasonic testing to EN 10228-3, SEP 1921, ASTM A388 or the specified standard.
- Material certificates issued to EN 10204 3.1 or 3.2 (third-party) on request.
- Delivery to ASTM B564, ASTM B637 and AMS 5662 / 5663; sour-service supply per API 6A / NACE MR0175.
Frequently Asked Questions about 2.4668
Is 2.4668 the same as Inconel 718?
Yes. 2.4668, Inconel 718, Alloy 718 and UNS N07718 all designate the same nickel-base superalloy. 2.4668 is the European Werkstoff number, Inconel 718 is the common trade name, and N07718 is the UNS number.
Is 2.4668 a stainless steel or a superalloy?
2.4668 is a nickel-chromium superalloy, not a stainless steel. Its nickel base (50–55% Ni) gives much higher strength and temperature capability than stainless steels, which is why it is used in aerospace, turbines and oil & gas.
Which standards apply to 2.4668 forgings?
Common specifications include ASTM B637 and ASTM B564, AMS 5662 / 5663 / 5664 for bars, forgings and rings, API 6A for oil and gas, and NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 for sour service. Jiangyin Jiangnan Metal supplies EN 10204 3.1 or 3.2 certification with each order.
What is the service temperature of 2.4668?
2.4668 / Inconel 718 performs from cryogenic temperatures up to about 704 °C (1300 °F), roughly -217 °C to 704 °C, retaining high tensile, creep and rupture strength across that range.
