What is 2.4665?

2.4665 is the European Werkstoff (material) number for a nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum superalloy also called Hastelloy X or Alloy X (UNS N06002, DIN NiCr22Fe18Mo). It is solid-solution strengthened rather than precipitation-hardened, and keeps its high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance and forgeability up to about 1200 °C.

The chromium content (about 22%) gives good oxidation resistance, while molybdenum and tungsten stiffen the matrix and help creep strength at temperature. The alloy also resists stress-corrosion cracking in petrochemical service.

Jiangyin Jiangnan Metal Co., Ltd. forges 2.4665 into rings, rolled rings, flanges, bars, discs, shafts, sleeves, tube sheets and custom near-net shapes. The material is melted by EAF + VOD / ESR, supplied to DIN 17744 in the solution-annealed condition, and released with EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2 certification.

Melting & heat treatment

  • Melted by EAF + VOD / ESR for low inclusion content and consistent chemistry.
  • Supplied solution annealed; solution + ageing available on request.
  • Hot-worked at forging temperature (approx. 1177 °C) to preserve grain structure and ductility.

2.4665 Frequently Asked Questions

What is material 2.4665?

2.4665 is the European Werkstoff number for a nickel-chromium-iron-molybdenum superalloy known as Hastelloy X or Alloy X (UNS N06002, DIN NiCr22Fe18Mo). It is a solid-solution-strengthened alloy valued for high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance up to about 1200 °C.

What is 2.4665 equivalent to?

2.4665 is equivalent to Hastelloy X, Alloy X, UNS N06002, DIN NiCr22Fe18Mo and Pyromet 680. Bar and billet are covered by AMS 5754, and various product forms by ASTM/ASME B/SB 435, 572, 619, 622 and 626.

What is the chemical composition of 2.4665?

Nickel balance (~47%), 20.5–23% chromium, 17–20% iron, 8–10% molybdenum, 0.5–2.5% cobalt and 0.2–1% tungsten, with 0.05–0.15% carbon and controlled minor elements. See the composition table above for the full breakdown.

What is the maximum service temperature of 2.4665?

2.4665 (Hastelloy X) has good oxidation resistance and keeps its high-temperature strength up to about 1200 °C (2200 °F), which is why it is common in gas-turbine and industrial-furnace parts.

Which 2.4665 forged shapes can you supply, and with what testing?

We supply 2.4665 forged rings, seamless rolled rings, flanges, round bars, discs, shafts, spindles, sleeves, bushings, tube sheets, pipes and tubes to custom sizes. Forgings are ultrasonically tested to EN 10228-3, SEP 1921 or ASTM A388 and certified to EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2.
